Lapaz: Armed men shoot two police officers, steal car in broad daylight

The Police Service is on a manhunt for two armed men who shot two officers in broad daylight at Lapaz in Accra.

The criminals were said to be on a robbery mission in the area but aimed and shot at the police officers  to prevent them from thwarting their operation.

Citi News gathered that the incident occurred at about 1 pm around a popular restaurant in the area, Las Palmas.

Some eyewitnesses said the robbers were on a motorbike when they carried out the shooting and subsequently stole a vehicle from a motorist before speeding off towards Kasoa.

The Police Service is yet to formally react to the development. The condition of the shot officers remains unknown.

Barely a month ago, a Policeman believed to be in his 30s was shot dead by two armed men. The officer, Michael Kporye, was shot in the face and in the chest at Tulaku near Michel Camp, in the Greater Accra Region.

Suspected armed robbers have shot and wounded a Police officer at Akwansrem in the Ashanti Region.

A few weeks later, Lance Corporal Kwaku Mensah, who was stationed at Anwiankwanta in the Bekwai Municipality, sustained several gunshot wounds when gunmen attacked a vehicle he was traveling on.

The vehicle was attacked by gun-wielding robbers who attacked the vehicle at about 10 pm.

This Counsellor Lutterodt Dance To Freddy Meiway’s Performance Is Too Much Stress

There was an award event over the weekend of June 24, 2017, and obviously, Counsellor George Lutterodt was there.

Outspoken Lutterodt’s first show when he appeared at the 2017 Exclusive Men of the Year Africa Awards was to ask photographers to snap his very expensive shoe.

So, just as it has always been, Lutterodt was in for a Showtime.

Freddy Meiway was the last performer the EMY Awards and despite his performance coming in the early hours of Sunday morning when most people were tired at the event, that did not stop Lutterodt from putting on a show.

This dance by Counsellor Lutterodt is too much stress.

BONUS: Abeiku Santana’s show was too lit!

8 Shocking Barbaric Acts By The People Of Denkyira-Boase You Probably Didn’t Know

We believe by now most Ghanaians are aware of the barbaric act by the people of Denkyira-Boase in the central region that put them in the limelight for all the negative reasons when they lynched a military major they purported to be an armed robber.

After the incident, a lot has been said about the little village located in the central region and from the look of things, it seems they are well known for their barbaric way of life. There have been many reported cases from that same village but little attention has been paid to these incidents making Major’s incident the most widespread of all and may be God’s own way of bringing them to order.

From the look of what happened and how they carried out the act, it is obvious it was not their first time doing this and in case you thought what they did was their first mistake ever, then you need to re-think again because we are about to bust your bubble, here are 8 other barbaric acts perpetrated by these same people from the same Denkyira-Boase that we are sure you probably didn’t know.

The town has been rated as the most lawless in the country and here are some of the reasons why.

1. Conflict

In the year spanning between 2004 – 2007, there was a conflict in this same village and the people ended up beheading their queen mother. The chief’s palace was also razed to the ground by the people.

2. Lynching

The military man’s case was not their first. In 2009, they lynched 3 people alleged to be armed robbers.

The question we keep asking is, what at all do these people have that armed robbers will want to steal from them.

3. Assault Teachers

In 2010, the people in the community assaulted the teachers of the Denkyira-Buasi R/C Primary school.

4. Chinese And Ghanaian Galamseyers Clash

In 2013, there was a clash between Chinese galamseyers and the people which resulted in the death of 14 Chinese men and 17 people from the community.

5. Lynching

In 2015, two unidentified people were killed and burnt in an alleged armed robbery case.

6. Macho Men Lynched

In October 2016, two macho men were killed for unknown reasons and till date, nobody knows why they decided to kill them.

7. Lynched Officer

In 2011, they killed one of two police officers who was sent to effect an arrest of one of the villagers. The other officer managed to escape. Due to this, no policeman wants to go to the village to cause an arrest, making them feel like they are on their own and can do whatever they like.

8. The Lynching Of Major Mahama

And finally, in May this year, they lynched a military man whom they claimed to be an armed robber.

Watch Ebenezer Ofori’s stupendous goal for Ghana vs Ethiopia

Ghana midfielder Ebenzer Ofori scored a stupendous goal for the Black Stars against Ethiopia on Sunday afternoon.

The VfB Stuttgart holding midfielder got ball down the right, cut in on his left and thwacked into the top corner of the Ethiopia goal to register his first goal for the Black Stars – third of the game.

The 21-year-old was called up to the Ghana national football team for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ofori made his debut for Ghana in a 1-0 loss to Egypt national football team on 25 January 2017

Stars reduce Ethiopia to rags in AFCON 2019 qualifier

The Black Stars of Ghana marked a return of coach Kwasi Appiah with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Ethiopia in a Group F AFCON 2019 qualifier at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

It was a must win match for a team that has lost favour with its football-mad supporters and on a rainy Sunday afternoon, the Stars strolled on the partly soggy pitch, turned the qualifier into a training session and reduced Ethiopia to rags.

If the victory was phenomenal, the statement behind the victory was even more glorious.

Appiah made changes to the squad, handing starting roles to three debutants, Lumor Agbenyenu, Raphael Dwamena and Thomas Agyepong, a brave decision to make on his return to the team but each one of them showed on the day, their selection was on merit.

Raphael Dwamena snuffed out a brace in the second half with Agbenyenu and Agyepong providing assists in a total team performance.

It was captain Asamoah Gyan who began the demolition exercise with a header from close range in the early embers of the game, taking his goal tally to 50, the highest any Ghanaian player has scored.

John Boye, who has been heavily criticised in the past got onto the scoring sheet shortly after Gyan’s opener with a goal, too good for a rugged defender.

Latching onto an incisive header in the vital area, Boye with his back turned to the opponents goal, made a magical turn before releasing a  bullet into the roof of the net for the Stars’ second goal.

Ebenezer Ofori capped a great performance on the day with a goal of breathtaking genius when he drilled home from 20 yards.

In a group that has Sierra Leone and Kenya, the Black Stars go joint top with Sierra Leone who also beat Kenya by 2 goals 1.

These Beautiful Photos Of Sister Derby In A Wedding Dress Should Be Giving Medikal Ideas

This is Deborah Venessa.

And this is Medikal.

Both Ghanaian musicians whom most Ghanaians know to be the tightest couple in town so far.

There have been rumours the two might be getting married soon. Although we’ve not heard any wedding bells yet, what Sister Derby has been posting on her Instagram page might prove the two are about to walk down the aisle pretty soon.

On her Instagram page, she was seen in a wedding gown with this caption,

He stole my heart so I am planning revenge… I am going to take his last name.

If there is anyone we all know this caption befits, then it is Medikal whom we all know to be her sweetheart unless she proves us otherwise.

Check out some of her pictures in a wedding gown and you will automatically agree with us things are about to go down pretty soon.

Don’t you agree with us from the look of things, it is obvious something is about to go down pretty soon?

Cheick Tiote dead: Former Newcastle player dies aged 30 after collapsing during training session

The former Newcastle United player Cheick Tioté has died aged 30.

Tioté collapsed during a training session with the Chinese League One side Beijing Enterprises on Monday. He was subsequently rushed to local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Tioté’s agent Emanuele Palladino confirmed the death of his client in a short statement and asked for the privacy of the player’s family to be respected. Tioté’s wife, Madah, is expecting their third child together this week.

“It is with deep sadness that I confirm that my client Cheick Tiote sadly passed away earlier today after collapsing in training with his club Beijing Enterprises,” he said in a short statement.

“We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time.”

“We ask for all your prayers.”

In a separate statement, Tioté’s club Beijing Enterprises confirmed that the player had fainted during a routine training session before being rushed to hospital.

“During a routine training session at 6pm today, Ivory Coast player Cheik Tioté suddenly fainted and the club immediately rushed him to hospital, but unfortunately efforts to save him failed and he passed away at 7pm,” the club’s statement read.

“The player’s relatives have been informed. Beijing Enterprises football club expresses its deep sorrow and profound condolences for Mr Tiote’s untimely death.”

Tioté was living on his own in the country since leaving Newcastle in February. His wife, Madah, is expecting their third child together this week.

Newcastle confirmed Tioté’s death in a subsequent statement which said the club was “devastated to have learnt of the tragic passing” of the player.

Tioté began his career for the Ivorian minor league side FC Bibo. He later moved to Anderlecht as a teenager, before moving to FC Twente in 2008.

Newcastle signed the player from the Eredivisie side for a fee in the region of £3.5m in August 2010. He would go on to spend six seasons playing in the Premier League with Newcastle, playing for the club over 150 times.

In February 2017, he departed for Chinese second-flight side Beijing Enterprises for an undisclosed fee.

Tioté represented his country 52 times and played at both the 2010 and 2014 Fifa World Cups.

A number of figures from the world of football offered their condolences to Tioté’s family on social media.

His former Newcastle team-mate Demba Ba was one of the first to react to the tragic news, writing:

Another former team-mate, the retired goalkeeper Stephen Harper, wrote: “Gutted to hear the awful news about my former teammate Cheik Tioté today. Thoughts with his friends and family.”

Benitez praised Tiote’s character and professionalism (Getty)

Rafa Benitez, who briefly managed the player at Newcastle, said in a short statement: “It is with great sadness that I have this afternoon learned of Cheick’s death.

“In the all the time that I have known him, he was a true professional, dedicated and above all, a great man. Our hearts go out to his family and friends at such a sad time.”

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, who played with Tioté at Anderlecht, added: “I am speechless and so incredibly sad. Cheick Tioté was one of the nicest and toughest teammates I have ever had. Rest in piece brother.”

Cristiano Ronaldo scores double as Real Madrid retain Champions League title

Real Madrid won a record 12th Champions League/European Cup trophy courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo’s double against Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid defeated 10-man Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff to retain their Champions League crown.

Madrid became the first team in the Champions League era to successfully defend the trophy with their sixth triumph in the competition – and 12th when you include it in its former guise of the European Cup – three of those victories coming in the last four years.

A thrilling first half saw Ronaldo put Madrid ahead, becoming the first player to score in three different Champions League finals in the process.

Mario Mandzukic equalised for Juventus with a spectacular overhead kick that will live long in the memory.

But Madrid dominated the second half as Juve collapsed, Casemiro scoring with the help of a huge deflection before Ronaldo made sure of the victory from close-range, ensuring he finishes above Lionel Messi as the competition’s top scorer this season.

Any hopes of a Juventus comeback were ended when substitute Juan Cuadrado was sent off 18 minutes after coming on, the winger receiving a second yellow card for a clash with Sergio Ramos, before Madrid substitute Marco Asensio put the icing on the cake in the last minute.

Having also secured LaLiga glory, the win seals a famous double for Zinedine Zidane in his first full season at the helm, with Madrid the first side since AC Milan in 1990 to win back-to-back European crowns.

Juventus, who had been seeking a treble after winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia, have now lost five straight finals since last tasting continental success back in 1996, including two of the last three, having also lost to Barcelona in Berlin two years ago.

600 – Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his 600th goal in all competitions for club and country. Legendary.

— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) June 3, 2017
Former Madrid star Gonzalo Higuain tested Keylor Navas early on with a 25-yard drive, before the goalkeeper had to make a terrific one-handed save to keep out a powerful Miralem Pjanic strike from a similar distance.

It was Madrid, though, who opened the scoring after 20 minutes, Ronaldo capping a slick passing move.

Karim Benzema and Ronaldo were both involved in the build-up before Dani Carvajal’s cut-back led to the Portugal international producing an impressive first-time finish, finding the far corner from the edge of the area with the help of a slight deflection off Leonardo Bonucci.

The lead lasted just seven minutes before Juve hit back in magnificent fashion.

Bonucci’s pass from defence was helped on by both Alex Sandro and Higuain – the ball not leaving the ground throughout – to set up Mandzukic and the Croatia international took one touch and unleashed a magnificent overhead kick into the top corner, with Navas not close to it.

IMMENSO @MarioMandzukic9 #UCLFinal #ItsTime

— JuventusFC (@juventusfc) June 3, 2017
Ronaldo had a chance to hit back, but he misjudged an attempted diving header from Isco’s cross as an entertaining first half ended level.

Luka Modric tested Gianluigi Buffon with a left-footed strike from outside the box as Madrid made a faster start to the second half.

And Zidane’s men retook the lead just after the hour mark when Toni Kroos had a shot blocked and Casemiro latched on to the loose ball 35 yards out, firing in a shot which took a huge deflection off Sami Khedira to deceive Buffon.

With Juve shell-shocked, Madrid struck again just three minutes later. Modric played a one-two with Carvajal, latching on to the full-back’s return pass down the right and digging out a superb cross, allowing Ronaldo to nip ahead of a stationary Bonucci and prod in from inside the six-yard box.

Juve brought on Cuadrado, Mario Lemina and Claudio Marchisio as they attempted to reverse the momentum, while Gareth Bale was introduced for Madrid in his home city.

The Italian champions needed a superb intervention from Bonucci to stop Bale from tapping in a Ronaldo cross, before coming close themselves when Alex Sandro’s glancing header fell just wide from Dani Alves’ free-kick.

A miserable night for Juve got worse with six minutes to go when Cuadrado, already booked for a late challenge on Ronaldo, saw red after Ramos went down dramatically, the Colombia international having lightly pushed him and made minimal contact with his foot.

Madrid wrapped up a famous triumph in the final minute when Asensio – eight minutes after coming on – slotted in left-footed from eight yards after superb work from Marcelo down the left in an emphatic triumph for Zidane.

Key Opta stats:
– Real Madrid have won their last six European Cup finals, last losing one in 1981 versus Liverpool.
– Mario Mandzukic (Bayern Munich, Juventus) became the third player to score in a European Cup/Champions League final for two different teams after Velibor Vasovic (Partizan Belgrade, Ajax) & Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd, Real Madrid).
– Ronaldo has now scored at least twice as many Champions League goals as any other player in the quarter-final stage (20), semi-final stage (13) and final of the competition (4).
– Ronaldo made his fifth European Cup/Champions League final appearance – only Paolo Maldini, Paco Gento (8) and Alfredo Di Stefano (7) have played in more.
– Juan Cuadrado became the third player to be sent off in a Champions League final, after Jens Lehmann (2006) and Didier Drogba (2008).

Our wedding cake… perhaps the biggest gamble we took during planning. We knew what we wanted but obviously weren't in Ghana to go cake tasting or look for the right bakery. Our planner @decortalk recommended someone she trusted and so we decided to go with her. Fast forward to coming to Ghana, scrambling to find time to go meet the baker and not getting the time to so we decided to wait for the wedding day and see what happens! The sight of the cake nearly made me cry cos it was so so beautiful and when it was cut and we tasted it, wow! @sugar_n_spicegh, thank you so much. Ghanaian moms are an integral part of every wedding.

Ghanaian fathers are also very important in weddings as well because they are the ones who actually give their daughter’s hand in marriage, but when they are not in the picture, they can always be replaced with an uncle and it wouldn’t be much of a problem but not a Ghanaian mother, unless she’s not alive.

This is why at every Ghanaian wedding, you will find them everywhere and their presence always gives you that feeling. Here are 16 pictures of such situations that will definitely give you mother goals.

20 Things That Will Make All Old Millennials Really Really Miss Their Childhood

Life moves like a flash reason why we have something known as a flashback because when you look back, you realise how fast things have changed.

A look at this list will definitely give you flashbacks that will leave you smiling all day.

1. Penpals

So back then we had nothing like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter and all these new Apps where you can send messages instantly and get a reply, in fact, we didn’t even have the internet readily available. So we depended on letter writing and to make friends, we had to actually write to them, how we got their address? Only God knows the struggle we had to go through just to get the address of penpals to write to them.

2. Room Dividers

Do you remember that big showcase our parents had in their living room? Omg!!! and they called it a room divider because yes! it was that big and the funny thing is, they had empty boxes of soaps, biscuits etc. to decorate it, it also housed the black and white TV and you dare not touch it.

Those room dividers are so old this is the closest we could get for an image, it is not like this though.

3. VHS Cassette Player

And oh! this was actually reserved for the rich back then. But today, nobody even needs it. Instead of what we had back then, today we have a whole new system, people even have Blu-ray and 3D decks that can even stream online.

With those VHS Players, if the cassette gets stuck in it, you have to open the deck recorder and pull it out and if by mistake your porn cassette gets stuck in there, you’re doomed if your dad comes back to remove it founds out this what you had it.

4. 99 Days In Agege Ghetto Blaster

Do you remember those ghetto blasters had two attached speakers by it and a cassette player in the middle with a radio, omg!! time has really passed.

5. Plastic Wrapped Cushion Chairs

The sofa we had back then were cushions wrapped in plastic bags…omg! God has really been grateful to us oh! Those sofas are so old, their pictures are not easy to come by and this is the closest we could get.

6. TVs With No Remotes

You remember those President TV’s back in the days? Black and white with no remotes and you have to always walk to the TV to either increase the volume or change a channel.

7. Piccadilly Biscuits

This was the official biscuits for Christmas

8. Reversing A Cassette With A Pencil

Today all you need is to push in your CD or Pendrive and you can listen to your songs non-stop, back then, cassettes had limits and when you skip a song and you want to go back, the cassette can get tangled in the system so you have to get yourself some pen and roll it back.

9. Jersey Dresses

Basketball became so popular back in the day that everybody wanted to dress like a basketball player. Even musicians mounted stages dressed like basketball players.

10. Overall Jeans

Wearing overall jeans was the issh!!! back then. We wear and intentionally leave one strap hanging loose.

11. Robot Bubble Gum

You remember that only blue and red gum we had back then, full of sugar? Today PK and Mentos has taken over the market.

12. Tsoobi

Today there are a lot of gadgets kids don’t even want to play with toys anymore. Back then the only toys our mothers could afford was the Tsoobi. You remember that toy that was moulded in plastic like it was wearing a skirt? Yeah! that’s it, we’ve suffered oh!

13. Nintendo Brick Game

The only game for the rich kids was the brick game on Nintendo. Nintendo was like our PS4 back then.

nintendo brick game

14. Super Mario

Super Mario back then was like watching Game Of Thrones today, most of us were really addicted to it.

super mario

15. Prince Of Persia

The next game that got every kid sitting behind their desktop computers was the Prince of Persia.

16. Diskette

Owning one of these back then made you the “Oboro” of those times. You could actually walk to a friend’s house and download all the games you need onto your diskette. 5 m.b. of that felt like you’re the king of I.T. and all your friends will come borrowing from you.

17. Yahoo Messenger

Not like these days, yahoo messenger was the official messenger for all we internet geeks.

18. Hi 5

Then there was Hi 5, unfortunately, Facebook shut them down. We all run to Facebook and left Hi 5.

19. Walkman

The walkman was what saved us before the invention of the iPod. It was the walking cassette player.

20. Colour TV Plastic

If you were born in the 2000’s, you might not know this but back then, we didn’t have colour TV anywhere and to get a colour TV, we had this plastic you can buy and fix on your TV screen and it will give you colours but in stripes…smh! they were horrible but we loved it back then.

OMFG! People Of Denkyira Boase Killed An Army Captain They Suspected To Be An Armed Robber

This is Captain Maxwell Mahama.

Lynched Soldier Man

A military officer with the 5th Infantry Battalion (5BN) at Burma Camp in Accra but on detachment duties at Denkyira Boase in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region has been lynched by residents on suspicion of being an armed robber.

The Ghana Armed Forces Captain in charge of the detach at Diaso in the western region has been lynched by the youth of the town.

Captain Maxwell Mahama who is commander of a military detachment in the area according to his subordinates, on Monday dawn was seen jogging along the main road and as he stopped by to ask some women for directions, they saw the pistol on him.

According to them, he was not dressed in military uniform and because of the recent spate of armed robbery in the town after residents were attacked a day earlier, the women called the Assemblyman who organised the youth of the town to lynch him.

Several pleas by the security officer to the effect that he was not a criminal yielded no result as the angry residents kept hitting him life-threatening objects including cement blocks until he died.

News of his death was later conveyed to his subordinates who visited the scene to ascertain things for themselves.

The body has since been conveyed to a health facility in the area but for fear of being attacked by the soldiers who may avenge his death, the youth have started fleeing the town realising that the deceased was not a criminal as they thought.

The army officer sadly left behind a widow and two kids.

Female teachers exchange blows over male counterpart

Video of two female teachers squaring it out physically right in front of their students during class lesson has hit the internet and the parents are angry.

The women can be seen throwing punches and pulling hair in the video shot by a student at Stone Mountain Middle School in downtown Atlanta.

According to local media reports, the two ladies, lost control of their tempers and went for each other’s throat as terrified students watched and screamed for help.

The police report said Randolph-Johnson and Ethridge “engaged in a verbal and physical altercation in the presence of minor children” at the school while school was in session.

Randolph-Johnson and Ethridge exchange blows over male counterpart

A student was quoted saying that Randolph-Johnson and Ethridge were arguing about a male teacher. The teacher and the aide were fired.

The fight continued momentarily before another lady, suspected to be one of the staffs at the school, entered the classroom in haste and tried to separate the two.

Footage of the outrageous brawl has gone viral and parents are reacting.

oal takes a look at the biggest transfer stories from the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and beyond ahead of the opening of the summer window

Alvaro Morata Real Madrid

Manchester United will look to include Alvaro Morata in a potential deal should Real Madrid come back in for David de Gea in the close-season,  Marca  reports.

AC Milan have emerged as the most likely club to sign Morata, but United would be willing to cut their asking price for De Gea from €75 million to €25m if Morata were to move from the Spanish capital to Old Trafford.

Bonucci Messi Barcelona Juventus

Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, according to  Don Balon .

Los Blancos are keen to bolster their defence ahead of next season with Pepe set to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

They are likely to face competition for the Bonucci’s signature, however, with Manchester City also keen on the Italy international.

Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal

Arsenal have offered Alexis Sanchez a new contract worth £270,000 a week amid interest from Bayern Munich, according to the Daily Mail .

The proposal is still short of the £300,000 package Alexis wants but is said to feature incentives which are likely to bring his weekly earnings close to that total.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Borussia Dortmund Champions League

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has asked to leave Borussia Dortmund, according to Bild .

Although Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Tianjin Quanjian are interested in the striker, he has not made a decision on his next club. However, Dortmund will not accept less than €80 million for him.

The German side have already chosen their main candidate to succeed him in Patrik Schick of Sampdoria.

Wayne Rooney Manchester United Europa League final

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is set for a lucrative move to the Chinese Premier League this summer, according to the Daily Mirror .

The England international has regularly been linked with the Far East in recent months is now said to have decided to cash in and end his time in the Premier League.

Michy Batshuayi Chelsea

Monaco have joined West Ham in expressing an interest in Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, according to the Sun .

The Belgian scored the goal that won the Blues the title against West Brom but could be set for a swift exit from Stamford Bridge after struggling for minutes under Antonio Conte.

William Carvalho

Newcastle United are plotting a £39 million bid for Sporting midfielder William Carvalho, according to various Portuguese outlets including O Jogo and Record .

Rafa Benitez reportedly tracked Carvalho closely when he was Real Madrid boss and is keen to bring him to the newly-promoted Premier League club.

Sporting are demanding £39m as that’s his release clause, but their president did admit this week that he’d be willing to sell players for less than their contract clauses to raise funds this summer.

Premier League Team of the Week Ander Herrera

Barcelona are targeting a summer move for Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera, according to Sport .

Incoming Barca boss Ernesto Valverde worked with Herrera at Athletic Bilbao and is keen to add some steel to his new side’s midfield.

Herrera has just one year left on his current contract at Old Trafford, and the Blaugrana are hopeful they can convince him not to sign a new deal.

Thorgan Hazard Monchengladbach

Arsenal are eyeing a move for Borussia Monchengladbach winger Thorgan Hazard, according to Jeunes Footeux .

The Belgium international, who is the brother of Chelsea’s Eden, has come to the attention of Arsene Wenger following some impressive performances.

But the Gunners are likely to face competition from Everton, with the player valued at around €18 million.

Ross Barkley Everton

Everton have placed a £50 million asking price on Ross Barkley, after begrudgingly accepting that they will not be able to keep the England international, according to the Daily Mirror .

The club have repeatedly attempted to extend Barkley’s contract but an impasse has been reached, and the Toffees have subsequently placed a valuation on the player.

Both Tottenham and Manchester United are interested in signing the 23-year-old, but the fee may prove a stumbling block, with Barkley considering seeing out the final year of his deal before moving on a Bosman next summer.

Renato Sanches Bayern Munich

Juventus are ready to hijack Manchester United’s bid to sign Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich, report The Sun .

The young midfielder made just six starts this season and United are ready to launch another charm offensive as they bid to land the player they missed out on last summer.

Juventus, however, are also interested in securing his signature, and are ready to spend big as they look to become one of the most dominant forces in Europe.

Douglas Costa

Tottenham and Manchester United are both interested in signing Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich, according to La Stampa via Calciomercato .

Juventus have opened the bidding for the winger, offering €25 million, but both Spurs and United are also monitoring developments and could yet rival the Old Lady for Costa’s signature.

Antoine Griezmann Atletico Madrid

Manchester United are close to signing Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid for £86 million, according to Metro .

United qualified for the Champions League on Thursday, as they defeated Ajax 2-0 in the Europa League final, and Griezmann now wants his future resolved in the next three weeks, with United poised.

Alvaro Morata Real Madrid La Liga

AC Milan have emerged as the front runners to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, Marca reports.

The Spanish striker has not made the impact he hoped for upon his return to the Spanish capital from Juventus and has been linked with a move to the Premier League. However, a return to Italy could develop, with new Milan owner Li Yonghong interested in him. It will take €60 million to convince Madrid to sell the striker, but the ambitious Serie A side are ready to invest in their squad for next season.

Alexis Sanchez Arsenal

Bayern Munich are ready to pull out of the race to sign Alexis Sanchez as the Arsenal attacker’s wages are too high for them, Bild reports.

The German giants were willing to offer a maximum of €16 million per season to the Chile star, but he already earns €20m at the Emirates Stadium.

Alexis Sanchez Arsenal Premier League

Manchester City’s players believe Alexis Sanchez and Kyle Walker will be joining them next season for a combined £100 million, according to the Daily Mirror .

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the running but City are said to hold a growing belief that the Chilean wants to stay in the Premier League.

Marcus Rashford Manchester United Premier League

Marcus Rashford will net another £10,000 pay rise to his Manchester United contract this summer, according to the Sun .

The young striker signed a new deal last year which sees him bag incremental increases to his wages throughout its four-year term.

Alexis Sanchez Arsenal Premier League

Alexis Sanchez’s agent is in talks with Bayern Munich after the German champions agreed to meet both the player and Arsenal’s financial demands, according El Mercurio .

Bayern are prepared to pay $65 million (£50m) to sign the Chilean and hand him a $14.5m-a-year (£11.2m) contract but Manchester City also remain interested.

Diego Costa Chelsea

Antonio Conte is pleading with the Chelsea board to offer Diego Costa a deal that persuades him to stay at Stamford Bridge, according to the Sun .

It has been widely assumed that the FA Cup final will be the Spaniard’s final game for the Blues amid rumours of interest from Atletico Madrid and a lucrative offer from China but the Italian is said to see Costa as irreplaceable.

Lanzini HD

Chelsea are targeting West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini as a potential replacement for Cesc Fabregas, according to the Sun .

The Spaniard has been linked with AC Milan and Blues technical director Michael Emenalo is said to see Lanzini as a perfect successor, with the report claiming he believes the Argentine can be as good as Luka Modric.

Pablo Zabaleta signs for West Ham after leaving Manchester City

The right-back will leave Manchester City when his current contract expires at the end of next month and officially join the Hammers on July 1.

Zabaleta has agreed a two-year deal at London Stadium and is Slaven Bilic’s first major signing of the summer.

“Sometimes a new challenge is all you need as a person and as a player,” Zabaleta told West Ham’s official website. “I thought my time at City was done. It’s been a fantastic nine years, absolutely brilliant.

“Manchester City gave me the opportunity to come to this wonderful league, the Premier League, something I’ve been enjoying a lot as a player and of course for me it was probably the right time to move on.

“Also, as a player, I thought I wanted to keep playing in the Premier League. For me, after being in this country for so long, this is a new challenge for me in the Premier League and I’m ready for it and looking forward to it.”

Sky Sports News HQ revealed in April that West Ham were interested in bringing Zabaleta to the club, with Bilic looking to add “game changers” to his side in order to push for the top six next season.

VIDEO: Nigerian Pastor Kisses Female Congregant To Heal Her

A South Africa-based Nigerian pastor has thrown South Africans into a state of shock after a short video of one of his church sessions was televised on a local TV station.

The pastor, who is said to be based at Rustenburg in the North West Province of South Africa is seen in the video, kissing a female congregant to during what appears to be a healing session.

“By the power of the Holy Spirit, God is working here,” the pastor says, as another man behind him responds, “Yes, Lord!”

The pastor then turns to the young light-skinned woman and holds her chin.

He draws her closer to himself before blowing air in her face and subsequently locking his lips with her’s.

As those behind him look on, one of the men is heard saying, “Jesus, thank you, Jesus, yes Lord!”

The development adds to the tall list of some of the most absurd happenings in some churches, especially in Southern Africa.

Last week, a Pastor in Zimbabwe who claimed to have a direct phone contact to heaven was seen in a video in which he claims to be having a phone conversation with God.

“I actually have a direct line which I can call Him on and get instructions on how to proceed,” Pastor Paul Sanyangore of Victory World International is quoted to have said.

In the video, the pastor can be seen holding his cell phone and responding to God’s questions, he claims.

He calls a woman from the crowd, and as she kneels down, he then starts receiving instructions from “heaven”.

In an interview with Zimbabwean news site H-Metro, the pastor, also known as Pastor Talent, said he did not understand why people were surprised about his actions.

He reportedly said he would make the numbers available to the public when the time was right

13 of the Most Powerful Moments From the 2016/17 Premier League Season

That’s it, the 2016/17 Premier League season is in the books. And what a year it was.

Here’s a look back at 13 of the most powerful moments from the course of the campaign.

Hull’s Opening Shock

Hull weren’t in a good place last summer following their return to the Premier League. The ownership situation saw manager Steve Bruce quit in July and few new signings, combined with several injuries, meant the Tigers had only 13 senior players to call upon for opening day.

Lining up against reigning champions Leicester, things looked decidedly bleak until Hull sprung the kind of surprise that only English can. Adama Diomande gave the new boys a shock lead, while Robert Snodgrass scored a second half winner after Riyhad Mahrez struck back.

‘Welcome to Zlatan’

AFC Bournemouth v Manchester United - Premier League

Seven years after the infamous sky blue ‘Welcome to Manchester’ banner bearing the face of Carlos Tevez, it was ‘Welcome to Zlatan’ that was hoisted high in the city centre last summer.

Manchester United had signed veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer against a backdrop of much scepticism, only for him to go and score 28 goals in all competitions before a serious injury ended an otherwise sublime season from the 35-year-old. A goal on his Premier League debut against Bournemouth was the perfect way to silence critics.

Bradley’s Big Day

Sunderland v Everton - Premier League

The whole country has come to know the story of Bradley Lowery over the course of the season, the brave, young Sunderland superfan who is battling neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that is sadly now terminal despite being the first person in the UK to receive a pioneering new treatment.

Bradley was first invited to be Sunderland mascot back in September as his Black Cats faced Everton. He’s since struck up a close bond with striker Jermain Defoe, has led out England, and led out Sunderland at their final home game last week. He was even invited to Chelsea’s trophy presentation, where Sunderland finished their season, but was unfortunately too ill.

Pep’s Stumbling Block

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City - Premier League

When Pep Guardiola was announced as Manchester City manager last February, a lot of people happily assumed the sky blues would walk the Premier League this season. That feeling was only increased when the team won six games on the spin to kick off 2016/17.

But City hit a brick wall on 2nd October after being outclassed and outwitted by Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Claudio Bravo crumbled and Spurs had the result wrapped up inside the first half, while it took City all month to win their next game.

Conte Rouses the Stamford Bridge Crowd

Jose Mourinho was on the receiving end of a total humiliation when he took his new Manchester United back to Stamford Bridge for the first time in October. It took just 30 seconds for Pedro to put Chelsea ahead and the visitors’ gameplan immediately went up in smoke.

But with Chelsea 4-0 up in the closing stages, the only voices that could be heard in Stamford Bridge came from the pocket of travelling away supporters. Sick of the sound, Antonio Conte got up from his seat and urged  the home fans to respond. Mourinho, of course, took offence.

Everton’s Kids Are Alright

Everton v Manchester City - Premier League

It doesn’t matter who you are in football, you have to turn up on the day and motivation, energy and desire will nearly always trump greater ability alone.

That was what Everton found out when they came up against a less than prepared Manchester City side at Goodison Park in January. The 4-0 win made a star of home-grown Toffees teenager Tom Davies after a marvellous performance, while teenage forward Ademola Lookman also marked his debut with a goal.

Hazard Stays Strong

Chelsea v Arsenal - Premier League

A lot is made these days about players, particularly those brought in from overseas, going down too easily and shying away from actually playing football in order to simply win cheap free-kicks or penalties.

That was not a criticism possible to throw at Eden Hazard when Chelsea faced Arsenal in February. Immediately prior to his sublime solo goal, the Belgian could have won a free-kick from the overzealous attentions of Francis Coquelin but he simply shrugged off the Frenchman and kept running towards the goal before firing home.

When Barkley Celebrated Early

Everton v AFC Bournemouth - Premier League

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley was so confident that he would score his team’s sixth goal in a heavy win over Bournemouth in early February that he threw his arms up in the air in celebration while he still had the ball at his feet.

Romelu Lukaku had already scored four times and the Toffees were 5-3 up deep into stoppage time at Goodison Park. As Barkley ran clear, he rounded Cherries goalkeeper Artur Boruc and knew he simply couldn’t miss with the goal gaping.

Leicester Return From the Dead

Leicester City v Liverpool - Premier League

Few expected Leicester to stay near the top of the table this season, despite their incredible title win, but a startling run of awful form threatened to see the Foxes become only the second ever English team to be relegated as reigning champions. It cost Claudio Ranieri his job.

Assistant Craig Shakespeare took over and Leicester immediately roared back into life, comfortably winning their first game of the new regime against Liverpool after surging into a 3-0 lead courtesy of goals from Jamie Vardy (2) and Danny Drinkwater inside the hour mark. The game finished 3-1 and the Foxes soon climbed the table to comfortable safety.

Palace’s Spanner in the Works

Until Crystal Palace humbled Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on April Fool’s Day, no one had beaten the would-be champions in the league since 24th September. Few, if any, could have possibly expected relegation threatened Palace to break that run.

Despite going behind after five minutes, the Eagles struck back and then took the lead mere moments later, heroically holding on for a famous win. The three points from that day, combined with follow up wins over Arsenal and then Liverpool are what have kept Palace up.

Batshuayi Wins the League

Football is a squad game, they always say, and that was never more the case than when Michy Batshuayi came off the bench to score the elusive winning goal as Chelsea finally secured a fifth Premier League title with a narrow victory over West Brom in May.

The Belgian striker had barely been given a look in all season and was starting to be written off as a flop at £33m, but it he was he who pushed the club over the line and, after three further goals in the two games since, will hope it proves to be the catalyst for a much better second season for him personally in 2017/18.

White Hart Lane Finale

In their last season at the old White Hart Lane, Tottenham enjoyed their best campaign in 54 years, since the days of Bill Nicholson, Dave Mackay, Danny Blanchflower and Jimmy Greaves, as they secured a second place finish.

Manchester United were the visitors for the last home game of 2016/17 earlier this month as fans prepared to say their goodbyes to the stadium. It was only fitting that Spurs would win, with goals coming from Victor Wanyama and home-grown hero Harry Kane, before a final post-game farewell.

Kane’s Second Golden Boot

Hull City v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

Two separate ankle injuries saw Harry Kane miss as many as eight Premier League games over the course of the campaign. He still scored 29 goals, though, his best league season tally to date, to scoop a second successive Golden Boot award in spectacular fashion.

Kane trailed Romelu Lukaku with just two games left to play, only to score four in Tottenham’s penultimate fixture to overtake the Belgian, followed by a hat-trick on the final day to make sure. He became the first player to win back-to-back awards since Robin van Persie four years ago, and the first Englishman since Michael Owen shared it in 1997/98 and 1998/99.

My husband is crazy about my breast – Mercy Asiedu

Kumawood actress Mercy Asiedu has said that she is very content with the size of her breast and will do nothing to reduce it.

She said she will rather flaunt her big breasts to glorify God.

“Why will I be bothered about the size of my breast which is a gift from God? God gave everyone what fits them. Some have big buttocks and others have big breasts. I have big breast and I am so proud of it”.

She also revealed that her husband is crazy about her breast adding that it forms part of the reasons he married her.

“It is partially a reason why I got my husband. He is crazy about it and admires it so much.”

Mercy Asiedu got married to Chief Agyemang on April 2, 2017.

According to Mercy Asiedu, her husband fell in love with her for her role in the movie ‘Asore Ba’.

K.P Boateng involved in training ground FIGHT with Las Palmas coach

A heated training ground exchange took place at Las Palmas on Thursday between coach Quique Setien and Kevin-Prince Boateng.

The side were being put through their paces ahead of the final game of the season against Deportivo when it took place.

Jugones de LaSexta captured footage of the incident that was sparked when Setien cried out that the training ground had become ‘like a schoolyard’ in exasperation.

“Not just for us,” Boateng responded in frustration which resulted in an angry exchange between both men.

Boateng recently signed a three-year deal with the Spanish Liga Santander side to keep him at the club until 2020.

Boateng became a subject of interest from several clubs with Valencia reported to have tabled a bid for the 29-year-old.

The player is currently Las Palmas top score with 10 goals and four assists so far this season.

Barcelona Willing to Pay £42m for Spanish Star as Arsenal Await Champions League Fate

Barcelona are growing increasingly confident they can tempt Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin away from the club this summer – especially if the Gunners miss out on Champions League qualification.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club are willing to pay £42m to acquire Bellerin’s services. They have long been linked with a move for the Spanish youngster, who came through the Barcelona youth setup before moving to Arsenal.

With Bellerin’s Barcelona ‘DNA’, the club feel he would be the perfect fit for the right-back position – a role they haven’t successfully filled since Dani Alves left for Juventus at the start of the season.

It is believed the Gunners may be willing to part ways with the Spanish star if Barcelona stump up around £42m.

Arsenal have a monumental hill to climb if they are to finish in the top four which would see them qualify for next season’s Champions League. They face Everton at home in the final game of the season this weekend, knowing they have to better Liverpool’s result against relegated Middlesbrough.

The Gunners gave themselves a slim chance after beating Sunderland 2-0 on Tuesday thanks to a brace from Alexis Sanchez.

Crystal Palace v Arsenal - Premier League

If they do fail to make the Champions League it would be the first time since 1998 and could have a detrimental effect on the club, with many stars thinking about heading towards the Emirates Stadium exit sign.

Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been heavily rumoured to be considering their futures, and now Bellerin could very well be added to the list of names thinking about leaving the club.

Chelsea Eye Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Club Prepare for Life After Costa

Chelsea want Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to replace Diego Costa, should he leave this summer, according to Tuttomercato.

The report claims manager Antonio Conte is preparing for the exit of forward Diego Costa, whose future has been in doubt ever since he fell out with the Italian in January after links of a move to the Chinese Super League.

Now, according to the reports, Chelsea are looking to sign Bundesliga star Aubameyang as they look to further improve their Premier League title-winning side of this season, in preparation for European football.

However, Chelsea face competition from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs for Aubameyang’s services, with teams like Real Madrid, with Manchester United, PSG and Manchester City also said to be interested in the 27-year-old, who has enjoyed a terrific season of goalscoring with Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The former Saint-Etienne forward has managed 29 Bundesliga goals in 31 league appearances this season and could join the likes of Eden Hazard and Pedro in Chelsea’s attacking line-up next campaign.

Chelsea’s hierarchy are expected to offer Belgium international Hazard a new contract while Conte is also another key figure whom the Blues wish to tie down on a long-term basis as he continues to be linked with a return to Serie A in Italy.

Hazard will be offered a new deal as a reward for his impressive performances throughout the season, scoring 15 goals and adding five assists in 35 Premier League appearances, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, whose current contract expires in 2019, has also opened talks regarding an extension.

I had the pleasure of being the guest of honour at the Malaria Safe Partnership Symposium this morning. Malaria affects everyone in Ghana; most vulnerable are women and children. In pregnant women the effects are harrowing and the greatest risk is death. The socio-economic impact is also significant. It affects households and reduces productivity at work. As we progress towards economic growth, participation from private sector is crucial. Access to and use of insecticide treated nets is vital and will ensure us become #MalariaSafe. I wish to call on the Ghanaian business sector to embrace the goals spelt out today. The Ghana- U.K Private Sector Malaria Prevention Project and its Malaria Safe Initiative is laudable. Leaders of business in Ghana let's embrace this initiative and make the workplace #MalariaSafe I hereby launch the Malaria PSMP Project and Malaria Safe Initiative. I invite you to join us work together to make Ghana a Malaria free nation. ✨🇬🇭

This Scary Video Of A Man Using Brooms To Identify And Catch A Thief Will Make You Scream

How to catch a thief 101.

We’ve all probably heard tales about traditional ways of identifying and catching thieves. Sometimes we call it bluff based on the how these stories are told. In this era of social media, the act has found its way out in the form of a video.

This video of a man using two brooms to figure out who stole something is too scary it will make you scream when the thief is found.

13 Ghanaian Foods You Probably Haven’t Eaten Since You Were A Kid

So growing up, we all had that one food that we were hooked on but now that we are old, we can’t even remember the last time we tasted it.

This food could be something you tasted way back in the village and never had the chance to taste again since you left or something that was common back in the day but not readily available these days.

Here are 13 foods you probably haven’t eaten again since you were a kid.

1. Yakayaka.

When was the last time you tasted yakayaka with some good “one man thousand” and some nicely prepared pepper sauce? Awwwww!!! See how you feeling nostalgic right now.

2. Abodoo.

That dish that comes in a partly covered leaf and also goes very well with “one man thousand”. When was the last time you tasted some and actually licked your fingers? It has been a while, right? Yeah! we know, they are not common these days.

#Food #Ghana #Africa #Delicacy #FoodPorn #Shrimps #OneManThousand #Abodoo #SteamedCornBread 3dziban…Dzi Dzi

A post shared by Nana Yaw Boakye (@nanayawboakye) on

3. Agidi.

We don’t know if this food is specifically cooked for the sick because it seems the only time you get to eat it is when you’re down with a fever, then they serve you with some light soup. Anyway, the question still remains, when was the last time you actually tasted this food?

4. Ntekyere.

Ntekyere is not that common on our streets but once in a while, you get to taste some. To be honest, it has been a while since boys tasted this food oh! and we know it.

5. Sasa.

Sasa is that food that is prepared with mashed roasted cocoyam and palm oil poured on it, somehow similar to “Eto”. It is very common among the Akuapems of Eastern region and even with that, we are sure there are many Akuapem guys reading this right now who don’t even remember the last time they tasted this food.

6. Ofam.

Let’s just say Ofam is the Akuapems form of “Ripe Plantain Cake” and although it is beginning to get the hype these days, it is something which was common when we were kids and we wonder the last time you tasted it, that’s even if you’ve tasted it before.

A post shared by Franka Maria Andoh (@food_style_franka) on

7. Apotonsu.

This isn’t a common one but if you’re from the Eastern region, you might be privy to it. It is actually a mixture of ripe plantain and unripe plantain mashed together. Both the unripe and ripe plantains are roasted but the ripe plantain is not peeled when put on fire while the unripe one is.  When they are done, they are mashed together with onions, pepper and salt to taste and actually cooked in an earthenware bowl, omg!!! it is heavenly. But we doubt you even know the last time you tasted it.

8. Ayigbe Biscuit.

Yeah! we know, your mouth is watering and you wish to taste some right now but unfortunately, they are not readily available but if you really need some, you will get it.

To some of you, this #AyigbeBiscuit is a #TBT but to me, it is still a #TopCookie 👌 #AyigbeGirl #AyigbeWoman #Number9 #JulyOfHope

A post shared by Mahogany Events By Debra-Jane (@thinkmahogany) on

9. Ayigbe Toffee.

Yeah! we know, it has been while since you tasted some.

10. Nkanfoo.

Nkanfoo is another type of yam which is not common these days but when we were kids, we loved it.

11. Afasee.

Afasee is also another type of yam and it doesn’t really taste that great but the texture and how it feels in your mouth will make you love it but we doubt you can even remember the last time you tasted it.

12. Mpehuu/Nnuhuu.

Mpehuu or Nnuhuu, similar to mportormportor but made out of cocoyam is also another food we hardly get to eat these days although they are available. Do you remember the last time you tasted it?

13. Aprapransa.

These days, we do see some aprapransa here and there but it is not like that food you can just walk to a vendor to buy when you crave for some and we are sure it been a while since you tasted some.

This Video Of A Soldier Lashing A Trotro Driver For Parking Wrongly Is Everything Funny And Sad

The tricks of trotro drivers in Ghana can scare the hell out of anyone who’s ever used that means of public transport.

From their chase among themselves in a bid to find passengers to stopping absolutely anywhere they find a passenger, the risk these drivers and mates expose their clients to is unthinkable.

And there’s that annoying part of them only stopping at bus stops when someone wants to alight but will stop just anywhere to pick passengers.

This trotro driver and his mate had a bad day when they decided to stop where they’re not supposed to around the 37 Military Hospital.

Unfortunately, there was a soldier around and his punishment of lashing the driver and mate in public is everything funny and sad.

Here Are The 10 Richest Musicians In Africa In 2017, According To Forbes

South African based music cable station, Channel O and Forbes Africa recently presented the top 10 most bankable African artists.

According to Channel O, the top ten were determined by a number of factors such as endorsements, brand value, earnings, bookings, popularity, and social media presence. The list shows the African artists making the most money in Africa.

10. Oliver Mtukudzi – Zimbabwe

Oliver (Tuku) Mtukudzi has 65 albums under his belt — more than Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. It’s a remarkable career stretching back 41 years with songs that have enlivened parties all over the world.

9. Sarkodie – Ghana.

You can’t mention Ghanaian music and not think of Sarkodie. He literally took the Ghana music industry from almost there, to everybody pay attention! With everyone from Tim Westwood to Ludacris giving him props. Sarkodie has managed to carve out a path for himself that no one can touch. Not only is he an incredible talent, he is also a presidential youth ambassador in Ghana. He’s established the Sarkodie Foundation to tackle the plight of the homeless and needy children in his country. Businesswise, he has his clothing label Sark clothing.

Let’s just say while most people are getting their gear made in china, Sarkodie is getting his line made in Dubai. He is also a brand ambassador to electronics giant Samsung. He’s won over 14 awards and has a sweet deal with Ghanaian ice cream production company Fan Milk Ghana. With a solid 360 career, it’s safe to say Sarkodie is not a business man, he is a business, man!

8. Davido – Nigeria.

Davido has claimed a high status in just five years. The single Back When planted him firmly in the music business in 2011. “It was people like [Nigerian music veterans] P-Square and D’Banj who made me believe that all this was possible,” he recalls. Dami Duro, an unexpected hit, leaked online almost a year prior to its official release, became the crown jewel for his widely acclaimed 2012 debut album, Omo Baba Olowo.

7. Wizkid – Nigeria.

Wizkid is arguably currently the uncrowned king of African music. Grammy Award-winning artist, Alicia Keys and husband Swizz Beatz, danced to his songs Ojuelegba and Caro, with Keys posting a video on her Instagram account with the caption, “This song makes me happy” and Kylie Jenner posted a video of herself dancing to Wizkid’s music on snapchat.

6. Jidenna – Nigeria.

By the age of 10, Jidenna Theodore Mobisson knew he wanted to do music but was afraid to tell his father who wanted him to be an engineer. It was just as well that his name means embracing the father.

5. Tinashe – Zimbabwe.

Twenty-four-year-old Tinashe Kachingwe sang before she could talk. Her Zimbabwean father Michael, and mother Aimie, from Denmark, have always helped. Tinashe was a child model by the age of three, made her first appearance in 2000 in the film Cora Unashamed and her voice starred in the cartoon feature film The Polar Express alongside Oscar-winning actor, Tom Hanks.

4. Don Jazzy – Nigeria.

Typically producers aren’t the headline in Africa but Don Jazzy has definitely changed this game. Don Jazzy has an influence in Nigeria second to none; when he tweets, things happen. As a recording artist label executive and producer, he is the CEO of Mavin Records home to D Prince and Tiwa Savage. He’s been behind some of the most of the iconic songs in African music history; Oliver Twist perhaps being the biggest to date. Don Jazzy has managed to clinch lucrative deals with MTN and Samsung to mention a few. With a chilled out vibe often known for just moving about in his P.J pants. Don Jazzy is so talented he has producing credits on Kanye West, Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s song ‘Lift Up’.

He also produced ‘Mr. Endowed’ by D’Banj featuring Snoop Dogg. There’s nothing much to say about Don Jazzy because unlike everyone else, his success and achievements do all the talking. If you are wondering why he’s so high up on list, let’s just say that the people behind the music make a lot more than what you know.

3. Hugh Masekela – South Africa.

Born in Witbank, east of Johannesburg, Hugh Masekela is committed to restoring African heritage. This world-renowned flugelhornist, trumpeter, bandleader, composer and singer has released more than 43 albums and performed with Marvin Gaye, Dizzy Gillespie, The Byrds, Fela Kuti, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and Miriam Makeba. “The music I make, I don’t call it my music. It is based on my township and indigenous rural roots in South Africa. That’s what brought me fame all over the world,” he says.

2. Black Coffee – South Africa

Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, has not only raised the bar for South African house music, but has put it on the world map. The multi-award-winning artist was born in South Africa’s house music province, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), raised in the Eastern Cape province, where struggle stalwart Nelson Mandela hailed from, before moving back to KZN to study music. It was worth it.

Just his name Akon is enough said for this list. This international African superstar has become one of the world’s biggest stars. He’s launched the careers of Lady Gaga and T-Pain. He is the CEO of Konvict Music, a multiple brand ambassador. He’s done what everyone has wanted to do. The best part is that his ties with Africa are still pretty solid, working with P-Square, Wizkid just to mention a few. He’s been known to open doors for other African acts.

From record sales to YouTube views, concerts to endorsement, affiliations to charities, he is the top of the top and most definitely has given African urban music a face. We don’t need to say much, just google Akon and see why he is without a doubt the number one most bankable African artist.

Whoever told you its not possible was lying! Keep going!! #NoSurrender 👊🏿
